Edmonton DJ at Edmonton Radisson South

 

This past Saturday marks the fifth year in a row Soundsations Music has been with Westcan Transportation for their Driver of the Year awards banquet in the big ballroom at the Edmonton South Radisson Hotel.

It’s a fairly big event with about 300 guests in attendance filling up the beautiful ballroom. I was there to provide the sound system and music for cocktails and dinner and for the awards presentations which have been emceed by the great Danny Hooper for the past few years. Of course this is all followed by a night of visiting and dancing.

This event always requires that I bring in a little extra equipment PA wise in order to cover the huge room with sound for the presentations. A few extra speakers for side fill to get the sound to the tables way off to the sides of the ballroom seemed to do the trick. A quick walk around the room while Danny was presenting via our Wireless mic proved that the you could hear loud and clear no matter where you happened to be seated.

Danny told me he was very impressed with the set up and quality of the sound system which I take as a huge compliment from someone who does professional speaking all over the continent.

Everything went smoothly for the presentations and by 9 pm everything was wrapped up and we were ready for the dance. As usual, it was a bit of slow start with only a few couples dancing for the first bit, but things heated up fairly quickly once the ice had been broken. As you can see if you watch the short video clip, a great time was had by those who stayed for the dancing. Lot’s of song requests where played, especially for a section of the crowd that was from the east coast. They love to dance to their east coast jigs!

Of course the great sound was enhanced by the awesome Soundsations dance floor lighting to help create that party atmosphere. All in all a terrific evening. It’s definitely a lot of work bringing the extra equipment in and out, but that’s what it takes to do it right. I’m looking forward to hopefully doing this event again next year.
